Our gorgeous guest blogger, Natalie from Iconic Weddings shares with us Laura and Blair’s story.

Iconic Weddings and Events are located in WA, they specialise in intimate weddings and events – pop up weddings, ceremonies, elopements, vow renewals, celebration events.

They understand not everyone wants the traditional format for their wedding but we believe you should still get that care, support and quality product that you deserve.

The huge volume of rain caused devastating damage and floods throughout this renowned winery region, with many wedding venues across the region effected. All except Mandoon Estate. Set high above the river bank, the ceremony area in front of Mandoon’s Linton and Kay Gallery was picturesque and untouched. When Tuesday, 14th February 2017 arrived, the flowers were stunning, grass was green and dry, and the humidity sky high.

1 week before Laura and Blair were to say “I Do” at the stunning Mandoon Estate in the Swan Valley, the heavens uncharacteristically opened up and Perth experienced one of the wettest – possibly THE wettest – February in history.

With a beautiful daughter and another one on the way, Laura and Blair had already created their family but had not yet become husband and wife. Kids, bills, life – it all kept getting in the way of saying “I Do” despite the desire to make it happen. Needless to say, we were thrilled to finally bring this to reality for them on Valentine’s Day.

Mandoon Estate is a stunning winery. The grounds are meticulously cared for and the architecture superb. All around the venue there are timber, steel and concrete features which sit beautifully in the surrounds of the vineyards and natural greenery. Linton and Kay Gallery has been styled with more softness. The Gallery’s sweeping verandah and white exterior overlooking the river makes it such a beautiful corner of this winery, and brings a real classic, pretty feel to any event held here.

At short notice, a small group of friends and family were able to fly in from New Zealand. Gathering in Mandoon’s Brewhouse, they expectantly waited for Blair’s arrival with their 18-month-old daughter, who he had dressed for the day complete with the cutest of flower crowns. Laura arrived not long after in a stunning vintage Jaguar from The British Wedding Car Company.

In a stunning two layered lace dress by Grace Loves Lace, flat natural sandals, a gorgeous flower crown and unstructured bouquet, Laura was walked down the aisle by her proud father and daughter, who had a flower crown and posie to match her mum’s. It was such a special touch.

Both bouquets were created lovingly by Jane from Green Vase Flowers and contained a gorgeous array of white flowers and green foliage to match with the classic white feel of the venue and styling.
The stretchy lace of Laura’s gown proved to be the perfect choice to accommodate her growing baby bump and looked gorgeous on her on the day.

White Americana chairs contrasted beautifully against the green grass of the ceremony area, and having walked the aisle, Laura met Blair, and Lesley, from WA Wedding Celebrant, in front of a one-of-a-kind double hanging pot arbour by Timber and Lace Co. The jute circular rug under their feet softening the strength of the brick path and marking their own space to be together. The setup and styling enhanced the classic theme, incorporating relaxed couches, and side tables, silver photo frames, silver jars, and white flowers. Letting the beauty of the venue do the talking, the styling was kept to a minimum with a very clean palate.
The ceremony was simple, yet heartfelt. Both exchanging rings and offering their vows to each other in front of their family and friends. Having no bridal party, it was lovely to see the bride and groom’s mums involved as witnesses to the marriage. Throughout the entire ceremony it was obvious how much this legal commitment meant to these two. Given the significance of the event and the distance so many had travelled, it was lovely to capture a few small group photos with family under the shade of the large trees following the ceremony.
While Lauran and Blair were off having photos, their family and friends relaxed under the shade in the mingling area enjoying drinks and canapes supplied by Mandoon Estate. It was lovely to hear old friends catching up, telling stories and enjoying the occasion together in an incredible location. With so many amazing locations at Mandoon Estate, Laura and Blair were spoilt for choice for photo backdrops. The couple spent some time amongst the grapevines and then returned to have some classic photos with the Jaguar from The British Wedding Car Company.

Laura and Blair spent some time with their guests sharing a drink and some food before departing together to enjoy a relaxed long-table lunch at Oakover Estate. To be able to share this day with their nearest and dearest was so special for this little family. They were thrilled at how relaxed, intimate and personal their day was, and loved that with their small guest list, they were able to spend quality time with everyone there to really celebrate the occasion.
